If you've ever played a roleplaying game (RPG), you know that it consists of rules, source material and often scenario ideas to allow you and your friends to get together for a few hours, play a character in an interactive story and generally have fun. A 1PG is not much different. It is roleplaying lite, with a simple set of rules and well supported with game scenarios. All the rules to play fit on the character sheet (hence the name, 1PG, or 1-page) so that players can take responsibility for learning the game while the game master chooses the scenario. The rules are far from complex - just enough to govern the interaction of players and GM.
Although the basic stats and skills may have different names from game to game, all 1PGs run on the same system. The only additional tools required are: a printer (for printing hardcopies of the character sheet and scenarios), pencils, standard 6-sided dice and an imagination.
